Howdy!
Hi, I’m Asa Kittner, an Illustrator and Graphic Designer from the Bay Area, creating vibrant and thoughtful visual storytelling. My work blends symbolism, surrealism, and conceptual thinking, using bright color palettes, graphic shape language, and bold illustrations to communicate ideas that inspire and connect.
My work is dynamic, with a style ranging from intricately rendered conceptual illustrations to geometric and graphic imagery, often blurring the line between the two. I like to work with vivid color combinations to set a mood and layered textures to create depth. Through symbolism and whimsical imagery, I visually communicate concepts in fun and unexpected ways. My practice includes work fit for editorial, conceptual illustration, branding and packaging, poster design, logos and icons, apparel, print, digital, and more.
In my early days, I was influenced by the rich visual culture of skateboard graphics, graffiti, music, and tattoo art. Today, some inspirations behind my work include the dreamlike quality of surrealism with artists like Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte.
As well as the 20th century's pioneering graphic innovators such as Paul Rand and Milton Glaser. I strive to stay inspired looking to the past and present to find new ways of seeing and fresh approaches for engaging visual communication. Beyond art and culture, I find inspiration in everyday life and unexpected places, paying attention to the subtleties of around us and the natural world.
I’de love to do more work for interesting brands, publications, and any other exciting projects and ideas that come along. I want to use visual storytelling to energize and uplift others. When I’m not creating, you can find me hiking local trails, flipping through old design books, or collecting weird trinkets.
